Program Emphasis
The Ph.D. in Community College Leadership is a nationally recognized program designed to prepare senior-level leaders for U.S. community colleges. Students from across the U.S. take live web classes in the fall and spring and gather once a year at the annual Summer Institute, a signature national event the first two weeks in June. The 54-credit program has four elements: core coursework in community college leadership (21 credits), research courses (15 credits), elective courses (6 credits), and dissertation (12 credits).
The graduate certificate in community college leadership is designed for faculty and administrators in community colleges, as well as individuals who recently transitioned to community college administration from careers in other industries. The 15-credit program typically takes one year (two courses in fall/spring, plus summer internship) or about two years (one course in fall/spring and summer internship).
